Everything needs a little maintenance and TLC to make sure it continues to perform and function the way it was intended when it was new.
Specialty stamped and colored concrete are no different than any other porous material (even if it is sealed!).
We suggest some of the following steps to keep your decorative concrete work looking its best.
Keep your concrete work clean and free of leaves. Many leaves (especially Oak) will stain surface concrete when they come in contact with moisture.
Do not leave ferrous metals (steel, iron, etc.) laying on concrete surfaces. Oxidizing metal creates rust which has a nasty habit of leaving its tell-tale mark behind
Should consummable liquids be spilled upon the concrete surface, wash them off with a hose ASAP. Soft drinks contain acids which will cause staining, and also removal of certain finishes, over time (Most, if not all, Cola soft drinks contain phosphoric acid... which has been shown to be able to clean battery terminals in vehicles and remove buildup on concrete!).
Remove snow and ice from the surface of unfinished concrete. Thaw cycles will cause moisture to slip into the concrete pores/cracks and expand when frozen again. This will end up causing spalling and further increase crack depth and width.
